Today marks 22 weeks along. Seth and Madison spent the morning with Katie and her girls while Rex was at a work meeting. When she dropped them off she brought a new box of movies for the kids to watch (Madison loves the Winnie the Pooh movies). Katie also copied 2 hours of BYU channel for me to watch, since she has cable and we don't. What a sweet heart.
Yesterday was eventful, and I am glad I didn't have to do it all my self. Jana Kemble came that morning and picked up Seth and Madison. They love playing at her house... They are good friends with her little boy Eli. She wanted to help by keeping them until 4 pm and let them nap at her house. While they were gone my mother in law, Sharon, came over and tidied up the house. She was a big help. Sister Standley came over a little before 3:30pm and we talked for about an hour while waiting for Seth and Maddie to get home. I learned from our conversation that one of her daughters had my same Perinatologist Dr. Watson. She said he is excellent, and Rex and I agree. I am glad to have have my same OB/GYN Dr. Bowen working with me still (I have been seeing him for a little over 6 years), but it is nice to know both Dr Bowen and Dr Watson are looking out for me. Anyway... more about Dr's in a minute...
Sister Standley was here until 7 pm when Rex got home. She tended to the kids when they needed me... I am so glad she was here. Just during the time she was here Madison had gotten into several things, and knocked over a few things. Seth was pretty well behaved, but he had an accident on the way to the restroom (I am sure he would be humiliated that I am writing this, when he reads it years from now) but I wouldn't have been able to clean him up on my own without getting a contraction, so bless sister Standley's heart... she cleaned it all up. And I am not talking a #1 accident- it was a #2 accident, if you know what I mean. Yuck!
A little while later dinner showed up. Sister Hellewell's son Adam made it for us. It was delicious Nachos. Mexican is actually my most favorite pregnancy food~ It just had to be put in the oven to melt the cheese. Thank you Adam! So Sister Standley warmed dinner and fed the kids and I. When Rex got home he dished him self up (and I asked for seconds). Hey you can't blame me, after all I have only gained 8 pounds this whole pregnancy. :)
Anyway, I was so glad at the end of the day to have had all the help I did. Thank you every one!
Tomorrow I have another doctors appointment, where I find out if my insurance will cover a physical therapist. Dr Watson said he thinks I need physical therapy. My legs have been hurting a lot from not being used, and laying down on my sides all the time makes my pelvis and hips hurt more. I really hope I will be able to get the care I need. I'll update again tomorrow. I will have some more pictures of Seth and Madison.

Thanksgiving has a little more meaning this year...
Just a quick update... Things are going pretty good right now. I am doing better with adjusting to bed rest. The hardest part is my legs are hurting from not being used (Achy bones and muscles). Obviously from my profile picture to the right, my tummy is bigger than ever. It has become difficult to walk with out a serious waddle!!! LOL
I have continued to knit the scarf for Katie, and I have been working on two other projects that are crocheted. One project is a baby blanket (green) for Riley (which will be the youngest baby), and the other project is a queen size afghan I needed to finish for a friend. On top of these projects I have had help from Sharon searching for pictures of Seth and Madison for their baby books. She emailed a bunch of cute ones that I need to print out. I am doing a pretty good job of keeping my mind busy.
Rex has been great. He had 3 papers to write this week on top of everything else. He has taken great care of the kids too. A few things have slipped... like the kids toys are all over their room, and our bed hasn't been made in 3 days, but that's to be expected I guess. Someone said to me a while back, "No one in their right mind would seriously expect your house to be immaculate for the next year or two while you are all adjusting." So we can only do our best.
Seth has been such a helper! What a neat kid. He loves to help out, especially with his sister. He offers to help me in so many ways. Seth takes a laundry basket in the wash room and pulls all the clothes from the dryer and pushes the basket all the way into me at my bed, and hands me clothes so I can fold them. Then he puts his clothes away. Rex switches the loads from the washer to the dryer. They have a nice little system figured out.
Madison has been a little sick these past couple days. She started with a fever Saturday evening (102 degrees). She had her immunizations earlier last week, but we are not sure if it is connected. Rex gave her a bath before bed, and when she woke up Sunday morning she felt fine, so she went to church with brother and daddy. But during church her fever came back. It's weird because she doesn't have a runny nose, no cold symptoms at all. (and no, she isn't cutting teeth. They are all in already.) When she went to bed Sunday night she felt fine again. We'll see if she does okay.
Monday morning Sister Kemble is picking the kids up to play at her house while Rex is at school. She will bring them back for naps around 1pm and Sister Standley will show up about 3:30pm to help out until 6:30pm. Sister Hellewell is bringing us dinner which will be a nice treat (she is a great cook), and Sharon said she would come over for an hour to help Rex keep up with the house work. We have a lot of help, and it is great. I guess they handed around a sign up at church this Sunday asking people to help Rex and I out. Needless to say, we are getting the help we need! We are covered for the next three weeks on the days that Rex will be at school. I am so grateful to every one who has been able to help.

A New Way Of Life
Well, today was my ultrasound and doctors appointment with Dr Watson. Everything measured good... fluid levels in each of the babies sacks are good, and my cervix measures a 4 now. It was 4.7 two weeks ago, so it has thinned out a little, but a 4 is still really good. It was good news for sure. However, Dr Watson advised me that he thinks it is time for me to consider bed rest. He said that everything is going really well for me especially since I am as far along as I am (I am 5 weeks past the typical half way mark for triplet pregnancies), but it would be best if I don't risk loosing the wiggle room I have right now. These last 3 days I have had lots of contractions and back pain. He is leaving it up to me, but he advised me that he thinks it is time to start bed rest. I have had such a hard time with the idea of it from the beginning, but I realized something when Rex and I were talking on the way to the car after my appointment. I think the reason I am so upset about bed rest is because I am such a fighter. I naturally want to go into fighter mode, to prove to my self that I am strong. Being on bed rest makes me feel so helpless, not strong. It's kinda a mind game. However, I think I have overcome a lot of that today. It really sank in today when talking to Rex... I said, "I can do this... I have to be strong in a different way, not to prove anything about my character, but I have to do this for the babies. What ever it takes." I feel like I am focused now, and starting today, I have taken the doctors advise and I am on official bed rest.
Oh, something that is cool. Last night Katie did come over and teach me how to knit! Thank you Katie! I am a little proud of my self :), so please indulge me a little while I toot my own horn... It was really easy, and I picked it up in no time at all! So Katie showed me how to do a regular knit and I have been practicing it. Today, I felt like I mastered the regular knit so I decided to read the book Katie lent me, to try to figure out how to cast on and do pearls. Well, first of all, it is an excellent book and I could understand it really well. Secondly, it took a lot longer to catch on from reading instead of being shown how, but I taught my self how to cast-on and do pearls. So I thought I would try it out and I am using red thread to make a scarf with ribbing. The ribbing is made from alternating 2 knits with 2 pearls. I can't wait to show Katie and Rex. Oh, Rex is at work tonight, who knows how late he will be, but every dollar counts right now, so he is glad to get the hours. The economy is so bad right now. We hope he gets more hours during the holidays.
Well, I better get back to knitting. I think I will make this scarf for Katie, to thank her for showing me how. I have been talking about learning to knit for about 6 months, and I am finally doing it, thanks to her.
Thanks to Sharon for watching the kids twice this week, you're a life saver! They love it at grandma's.

Home Alone
How incredibly Boring! Today I am home alone. Rex took the kids to his mom's on his way to school, because yesterday evening I started having menstrual-like cramping, and lower back pain. I read the instructions I was given and it told me to drink 2 glasses of water and if it didn't stop with in an hour I needed to call the doctor. Well, I did, and they stopped for about 30 minutes. But then I had to go to the bathroom 3 times from drinking 2 cups, and the getting up caused them to come back. So I drank yet another cup of water and stayed in bed. They didn't come back again, until I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, and on my way back to bed I got a full out contraction. Rex insisted on calling his mom last night before we went to bed to see if she could come over at some point today to take care of the kids. My friend Katie was planning on picking the kids up today after their naps so I really only needed help in the morning. However, Sharon had something going on today and asked if she could just keep the kids at her house all day. Rex agreed, so I called Katie this morning to let her know that she doesn't need to watch the kids today. Since I have been in bed all morning and it is now just after noon, I haven't had any contractions yet. Rex has called twice already to make sure I am okay. I hate being in bed... it's HARD~ but then add to it that I am all alone, and it's much worse. :( However, I will try to keep my mind busy.) I have been doing a little research for Rex for his term paper in Politics of Religion. The topic Rex chose is the Nicene Creed. In it he will argue why the Nicene Creed is a political document more than a statement of theological beliefs. It will be a really good paper. I have found some good sources for him, but I am terrible at typing (more like chicken pecking) lol.
I am hopeful that Katie will still be able to come over later today so she can teach me how to knit. I have wanted to learn for quite some time. I know how to crochet, but I left all my needles in the car, so I am stuck waiting to learn how to knit.
I have the head phones on my belly, letting the babies listen to the children's song book. Right now they are on "Reverently Quietly." I don't think it is sinking in though... they are kicking and moving a lot (not very "reverently quietly". Their movement is a very good sign though after everything last night, so I am grateful for the internal beating! lol I need to get up and get my self some lunch. Doctor said I shouldn't ever let my tummy growl (letting hunger pangs go like that is bad for the babies). Which means I have to eat every hour. My tummy has little room already, so it is small frequent meals all day.
I am praying that today goes well. I don't want to have to go in to the hospital... besides, I have an ultrasound and doctors visit at the Perinatologist office tomorrow morning. Rex wants me to stay flat in bed until then. My body hurts from not being active... but I know this is the best thing I can do for my sons. It is kinda saddening that if I end up on doctor prescribed bed rest I will be in bed for a really long time. I am 21 weeks and I want to get to 36 weeks. 3 and a half months!!!! Pray for me every one. I would appreciate it. I will keep you all posted.

21 weeks with Triplets
Today marks 21 weeks. I feel huge. My pelvis just wants to break in half I think. Basically, it feels like I am in the last couple weeks of a full term pregnancy. No wonder bed rest is inevitable, it's going to get to painful to be up walking around before long. I got a call from Dr. Bowen's office today. It was Dr. Bowen, he said that he received a fax from Dr. Watson requesting that I come in to his office this next Thursday for an ultrasound. I called and the receptionist said the schedule was full already. She said she would have to talk to Dr. Watson about it and she would call me back. About 1 hour later she called back saying that Dr. Watson told her to make it work so I am going to be squeezed into a 11 am slot for another 3 hour ultrasound. They are now going to have me in every two weeks for ultrasounds. That's going to be hard to get a sitter twice a month for 3 hours each time, but I think there are some ladies in the ward who wouldn't mind helping me out if Sharon can't do it.
Last night Sharon came over to help with the kids. I had dinner in the crock pot so as soon as they finished playing with puzzles and Jenga we ate dinner. Then Sharon washed the dinner dishes and folded the clothes that had just come out of the dryer while I sat with the kids listening to their cassette tape on Obedience. Then Sharon and I got the kids ready for bed, and she read stories to each of them while I put away the laundry she folded. Her and I talked for a couple hours until Rex came home from Eugene. I really appreciated all her help. Today Rex Sr came over and helped Rex Jr with the yard. They trimmed down all the bushes on the far side of the house, and the tree in front, and the rose bushes. They ran out of day light so they took all the recycling to the local drop off. So now we just need to ask the Young Men in our ward to come out and help us move all the debries to the burn pile. I sent him home with a plate of ricecrispy treats to try to say thank you. Both Sharon and Rex have really been there for us, and we are eternally greatful to them.

So Blessed! 20 weeks 4 days
We are so blessed! I am very grateful for all the help we have received thus far. Just looking back over the last few weeks, Rex's mom and dad, Sharon and Rex came out and took care of the kids and the house while I was on temporary bed rest, which was greatly appreciated. Sharon worked hard to get me caught up with the folding (I hate folding clothes) Probably for the same reason I struggle to sit through a baseball game... too slow paced. I prefer to be active, and sitting and folding clothes doesn't fit under an active category does it! Anyway, since she caught me up by folding the mountain of clean clothes, I have been very good about folding each load as it comes out of the dryer! It's amazing what has happened to me... now that I can't be active. Folding laundry actually gives me a sense of accomplishment now. Crazy... but I really do like that change in my self. My father in law, Rex Sr, was such a big help too. We have needed some winter clean up done to the yard, and he went out there on his day off and worked non stop. Rex Jr (my hubby) has continued the work with every minute he has away from homework and the kids. He has kinda had to step into a Mr. Mom role. And I have had to learn to let go of how I think things need to be done. Surprisingly, when he does it is own way, the kids survive it just fine, and they like having more time with dad! Of course his studies are suffering, but if you asked him he would say it a million times, "No success can compensate for failure in the home." We both believe that God will bless him in his studies, if he gives due time to his family.
I am so glad that the kids have handled all of this well. They have had less play time with me, which is hard for them, and me. I love to get down on the floor to play with my kids, but I haven't been able to now for a couple weeks. Seth explains to Madison, "Mommy and the babies will get really sick." He prays for me to feel better in all of his prayers, and it is actually strengthening my spirit. Speaking of Spiritual things, tonight Rex and I went to the temple (awesome experience). Rex's sister, Jessica, that lives in Portland agreed to watch the kids so we could go. I was realizing that if I didn't go to the temple soon that I would not be able to go for a very long time. Seeing as the triplets will need me, especially if I am nursing them. So we broke away, and went to the temple. I felt such peace about this pregnancy when we were there. I am optimistic that everything is in Gods hands. What ever happens, I know his will is in it. So we dropped the kids off at Jessica's apartment. After the temple Jessica was helping Rex bring the kids to the car and transfer car seats again, and she mentioned to me that she put Madison in her bedroom hoping she would fall asleep on her bed, and when she went in to get her (when Rex and I showed up) she walked in and saw that Madison had picked up her scriptures off the night stand and had them opened up and was leaned over peering into the pages as though she was trying to read. This made me so grateful. Grateful that over the last month we decided to be better about family scripture and prayer morning and night. It testified to me that what we are doing with Seth and Madison will leave an indelible impression on their minds. They will always know that studying the scriptures and prayer are very important. On the way home Madison said, "Family Prayer?" I said, "Yes, Maddie, as soon as we get home, I promise." She said, "Promise." and I reiterated, "Yes, I promise." When we finally got home Seth had passed out in the car, but Madison was still wide eyed and saying, "Family Prayer." She is such a blessing to us. And yes, if you were wondering, we did have family prayer! I am so grateful for my kids. God picked them out for me, I know it! I'll write about my doctors appointment tomorrow. We didn't hear anything new about the babies, but we did have a neat experience I want to share. tell you more tomorrow.

Getting my Grove Back: 20 weeks 1 day
Today was a much better day! I was able to get a few things done, with out any pain or contractions. The kids were much better today. They napped from 1pm - 3pm and Sister Rogers picked them up at 3:30 pm and brought them home at 6:20pm, she showed up with Lasagna for us, for diner! I had already put something in the crock pot this morning, so the lasagna went in the fridge for tomorrow night. It was a very nice gesture. It's great to have some help on the days when Rex is not here. Last night I tried to sleep in the recliner. Rex moved it all the way back to the bedroom, next to the bed... I tried to sleep. It didn't hurt my hips like sleeping on the bed, but I couldn't lay it all the way back cause it was harder to breath with the babies up in my diaphragm. So I put the back up more and that strained my neck on the right side. I ended up moving to the bed at 1 am. What's crazy is, I slept really well, with no hip pain. I don't get it. Poor Rex moved the chair for nothing. What a good guy, I sure love him.
Tomorrow I have a doctors appointment with Doctor Bowen, he is my regular OB/GYN. He works hand in hand with my Perinatologist Dr. Watson. I am anxious to hear all of the babies heart beats tomorrow. I have only felt baby A and B move in the last 2 days. It's hard trying to keep track of the movements though... especially with three of them. Anyway, it is late and I need my rest. I will blog more tomorrow after we get the update from Dr. Bowen.

What a day! 20 weeks 0 days
Hey every body. Today marks 20 weeks along! Thanks so much to every one for their help, and kind emails. At a time like this the kind words from every one have been the best! Thanks to my sister Amanda also, I really appreciated your sweet comments on the phone the other night. You helped me feel confident in my self.
Well, Yesterday was a very hard day. It started out bad and struggled, but it did eventually get better. I woke up with really bad hip pain (which had kept me from sleeping most of the night before). Seth and Madison were wide awake and watching cartoons. When they saw mom emerge from her "lair" they both ran and greeted me with bear hugs. Seth's tall enough now that when he runs at me for a hug I have to shield my stomach, or he will bounce head long right into it! :) It was a nice morning greeting, however, almost immediately those little stinkers started begging for breakfast. lol (Since Rex leaves early on Monday's and Wednesdays for school I am on my own from 8 am to 7 pm.) Not a big deal if I was allowed to pick up Madison, stay on my feet for extended amounts of time, and if I just had the stamina to chase them around all day.
So I fed them and went to work folding some laundry. While I was putting the laundry away I got a contraction, So I went into my bed and laid down. While I was laying down Madison decided to get into the pantry and pulled out two packages of instant oatmeal. She brought them to me in my room to ask if she could have them. I reminded her that she just ate (a common conversation between her and I), and I asked Seth to help her put them back. I am not really sure how much time went by cause I dosed off, but I got up, went potty, and started into the Family Room. Madison came running up to me with her face covered in oats, and said "cereal mom!" I could have died. She had torn open both packets of oatmeal and scattered them all over the carpet and couch. After cleaning her up I got the vacuum and began cleaning up the couch and floor. On top of this the phone kept ringing off the hook (mostly solicitors). Seth was not very helpful either yesterday, aside from not putting the oatmeal away... he kept making toy messes, and left his dresser drawer out, so Madison viewed that as her Que to empty it. All his nicely folded clothes were sprawled out every where. While I was sitting on Madison's bed trying to fold the clothes and put them back Seth was jumping on the bed behind me. After several times asking him to stop he finally did. While I was doing that, Madison took the liberty of pulling all the movies off the shelf in the family room. The phone rang again. During this phone call I was sitting on the couch trying to rest a little, but Seth was back at it. Jumping on the couch this time. Which was hurting me cause he was making me bounce. Needless to say, Seth went to his room. Madison ended up in corner and I was in tears! At about 3 pm Sister Doman from our ward came and picked up Seth and Madison. She kept them for almost 3 hours! Thank Heaven! While they were gone Sister Rogers came over and washed dishes, changed the sheets on the hospital bed, swept, and took out the trash! I was able to rest. It was high time. The kids got dropped off at about 6pm and Sister Rogers stayed and played with them a little. I called Rex and asked him to pick up Papa Murphy's Pizza. I called in the order. See yesterday was Madison's real birthday, so we were planning to do something fun as a family that night for FHE, and pizza just fit in for me! Sister Rogers left just before 7 when Rex usually gets home. (I sure appreciated those two women... You could tell they were doing it with a heart full of service). After eating and getting the kids ready to go to Chuck E Cheese's (we had left over tokens from the last time) Rex loaded the kids in the car while I shut off lights in the house, and low and behold... I got another contraction. I didn't want to stay home and miss Maddie's birthday fun, so I still went along. However Rex made me promise that I would sit down the whole time (which I did). When we got back home Sharon and Rex came over with Lacey for cake and ice cream. They gave her some really nice gifts. Madison had a good birthday this year.
I have worked up some links to the babycenter web page that I get emails from weekly on my pregnancy progress. If you would like to go to them here they are:
My Pregnancy 20 weeks (Singleton)
My Pregnancy (Picture of Twins) at 20 Weeks
They don't have anything on Triplets... so I have to use my imagination... but I can tell you just how big I feel and how tired I am, and you could probably imagine too! lol
Today has been much better. Rex was here to help with the kids. Tomorrow will be another thing though, Rex goes back to school. Sister Rogers said she would take the kids tomorrow for a little bit, so that will help. Wish me luck. I will let you all know how it goes after Wednesday.

Perinatologist (High Risk Pregnancy Doctor) 19 weeks 5 days
So there is a really long story for the things that have happen just out side of one week ago, and I am not going to be able to catch you all up. However, I will try to cover the basics. Doctor Bowen is my OB/GYN (he delivered Seth). He has refered me to a Perinatologist from Portland named Dr. Watson. A Perinatologist is basically a high risk pregnancy doctor. He deals with multiple birth pregnancies, and complicated singleton pregnancies. We went in on Thursday to get an ultrasound from Dr Watson's office. They spent three hours checking measurements for each baby, fluid levels, and the condition of my uterus and cervix.
Here were the things determined:
The rules are:
Here were the things determined:
- Two of the babies (A and C) are identical. Baby B we won't know for sure until birth.
- Because Babies A and C share a placenta that would typically mean that on baby would be smaller than the other- due to inceficiant blood flow to one baby. However, they said all three of our babies are measuring the same size!
- Typically with mutiples the babies don't grow as well as a singleton baby (one baby with a womb all to it's self) and their gestational size is smaller than that of a singleton. However, with our babies, all three of them are measuring at 19 weeks the same gestational size as a singleton at 19 weeks. Brings all new meaning to us saying we are having babies to the 3rd power! No wonder I am so large already! lol
- Dr Watson said that all three babies apear to have functioning organs, and to be healthy.
- When it comes to the Cervix he said that it needs to be within 3-5 centimeters thick, and mine is easily 4.7 centimeters. (That means less chance of a few contractions causing me to go into imediate delivery)
- They reconfirmed that all three babies are boys! I am way excited about that. I always wanted to have alot of boys (not all at once, but we will roll with it!
The rules are:
- No lifting
- Minimal standing
- Frequent resting
- Nothing that would strain my back or stomach muscles
- No Sex (none, nadda, zilch!)
- Eat well
- Listen to my body
- Lay down when getting contraction
- Lay down if I get light headed or tired
- NO STRESS!!! (He said stress would undo all the good things I am doing up above)

That's Right, I said, "Triplets!"
We had our first ultrasound at Salem Clinic on Halloween Day 2008. We knew there was a possibility of us having twins because the doctor said I was measuring 6 weeks too big with only 4 pounds weight gain the entire pregnancy. What's great about that is... Rex has been saying all along that he thought we were going to have twins! As we got closer to getting the ultrasound Rex, and his mom Sharon both told me they thought we might be having triplets because of how fast my belly was growing. I laughed it off... trying not to feel like I must have looked so fat! I mean, what if there was only one baby? That would have made me feel like I was just a fatty. Well, the day came and we went in. The Technician who was doing the ultra sound put the little wand on my tummy and in no time at all removed it and started asking questions, "Is this your first ultrasound?" Yes. "Have you seen an OB/GYN yet?" Yes. "Did he tell you that there was anything abnormal?" This frea
ked me out!!! ABNORMAL? What a word to use!See about two weeks before that I had one of those crazy pregnancy dreams where I went in for an ultrasound and they told me that I wasn't having twins, and that there was only one baby and a huge tumor growing inside the inner wall of my uterus! In the dream I would die if they didn't opperate, but the baby wouldn't survive! It was a terrible dream! So this technician really couldn't have picked a worse word than abnormal.
I gathered my self together, when I noticed that he was waiting for my answer. I sqeezed Rex's hand and said, "No, but he did say that I am measuring 6 weeks big and that we could be having twins."
He said, "Oh, well you are." and put the wand back on my belly. As I was explaining my relief and started to cry with joy, the tech said, "Oh, wait a minute! There's Three!!!" I started to cry even harder, and I think at this point Rex's hand started to loose blood flow! The tech scanned back over my belly again and pointed out each of them. Baby's A, B, and C. He then told us they are all boys!

Sharon, my mother in law, and Lacey (her daughter) then came in with Seth and Madison and we suprised them all. Rex told them that we weren't having twins before they came in the room, he loves to be a tease. They were sure supprised when the tech then showed them baby A, Baby B... (this is when Sharon looks to Rex and says, "You said there aren't twins!" and then the tech finished with and Baby C before Rex could reply. It was classic. Once Sharon heard that they are all boys she said, "I'm not babysitting!" lol
We went straight from there to Kelly's Home Center to tell Rex's dad, Rex sr., at work. On the way there I called my family and told them the news. My little sister Auriela (16) was screaming in the back ground. I called my family in Reno and told them as we were headed out to lunch with Rex's dad. All good times. I have a video of Rex's dad when we told him that I will try to download later. So watch for it!
I have included the ultrasound pictures from the second ultrasound. They are all Profiles of the babies faces. At the bottom of each pic you can see A, B, or C. According to the doctor, A and C are identical and they will not know about B until they are born. I will add another post tomorrow about the Dr's Appointment with the Parinatologist (High risk Preg Doctor) Dr. Watson. All Good news so far!
